My favorite “Alaska Standard” hoodie with my (Unofficial) Turnagain Surf and Social Club Design. Drawing surf and kustom kulture designs is one of my favorite things to do. It’s the kind of things I drew when I was a kid.
The Inspiration Behind the Design:
Cook Inlet along the Turnagain Arm near Anchorage experiences one of the largest bore tides in North America. It also holds a unique beluga whale population. The bore tide wave can reach 6 feet in height and run for two miles. Perfect surfing with belugas for two miles between towering snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and Alaskan forests. What could be more perfect?

I call this the “Alaska Standard” hoodie because it’s not too thick or thin but just the right weight to keep nearby as one of the essential layers Alaskans always have on hand. Beyond that, it has a hood to keep the head warm around the campfire, keep the mosquitos off when one needs to, and a pass-through pocket to store found treasures on forest or beach walks or keep your hands warm. Nothing’s perfect, but if there is a perfect middle ground, I think this is it.
